'Vienna Autumn Marathon' 2013
Vienna (Austria), Sunday 20 October 2013
Organized by the athletics club LCC-Wien, the Herbstmarathon offers a 7km race, a 21.1km half marathon, and a 42.2km marathon.
The half marathon is three laps, and the full marathon is six laps of an AIMS-certified 7032.5-metre loop in Vienna's largest public park, the Prater.
Starting and finishing in the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Austria's main stadium, the route is traffic-free and pancake-flat, partly out and back the Prater Hauptallee (pictured), an over 4km-long avenue that is lined with chestnut trees.
Last year, around 950 runners took part in the event. The marathon winners were Markus Reininger (2:49:49) and Kamila Polak (3:04:54).
