27th ‘Half Marathon Ivan Starek’ 2013
Zagreb (Croatia), Sunday 17 November 2013
The Polumaraton Ivan Starek in Croatia's capital Zagreb features a pancake-flat, traffic-free, and certified half marathon course.
The route consists of three laps around Lake Jarun which is situated in the south-western part of the city. Created for the Summer Universiade 1987, Jarun is home to a rowing regatta course, sports facilities, shingle beaches, cafés and bars.
Competitors run on the road that encircles the lake. The first lap includes a detour to the ‘Island of the Croatian Youth’.
Last year, the half marathon had almost 400 finishers. About 150 runners took part in the supporting 5k race.
