This unique cross-border run takes place in Görlitz-Zgorzelec, a city that has been divided in two since 1945 — Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.

Entrants can choose to run either 4km (one loop) or 8km (two loops) along both banks of the River Neisse which forms the border between Germany and Poland.

The route crosses two torch-lit bridges. The race begins at 6.30pm (after nightfall) at the Altstadtbrücke footbridge in the beautiful city centre (pictured).

Last year's Fackellauf (‘Torch Run’) drew 138 runners from Germany and 104 from Poland.
