Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary), Sunday 19 May 2013
The Szigetköz Minimaraton brings runners to the town of Mosonmagyaróvár in the north-western corner of Hungary, near the borders with Austria and Slovakia.
Two race distances are on offer — the 4km Dunamenti kör ("Danube Loop") and the 16km Minimaraton, which takes runners through rural areas and villages on the Szigetköz, a 50km-long flat tract of land which is bounded by two rivers, the Danube (Hungarian: Duna) and the Moson-Danube (Hungarian: Mosoni Duna).
Around 400 runners took part in the event last year. The 16k winners were Tamás Tóth (50:05) and former world-class marathon runner Judit Nagy Földingné (58:51).
