Lignano Sabbiadoro (Italy), Sunday 24 March 2013
The Marcia del Mare is a non-competitive event for fun runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, held in the seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro in the Gulf of Venice in the north of Italy.
Participants can start at any time between 9.00am and 9.30am, and they can decide on the course which distance they want to run (or walk) — 6km, 14km, or 25km.
The route is flat on mixed terrain through pine forests and rural areas, along the estuary of the River Tagliamento, on the 8km-long sandy beach, and on the beach promenade..
The course closes at 1.30pm, so there's plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, the fresh sea breeze, and the snacks and drinks offered at the aid stations.
