Vienna (Austria), 27 January 2013 - 24 February 2013 - 24 March 2013
Organized by the athletics club LCC Wien, the annual Eisbärlauf ("Polar Bear Run") race series comprises three running events in January, February and March.
Each event offers a 7k, a 14k, and a half marathon. The event in February also features a 28k.
The route is a 7-kilometre loop on asphalt roads through the Wiener Prater — formerly imperial hunting grounds, nowadays Vienna's largest public park.
Starting and finishing near Austria's biggest stadium, the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, the race is run mostly on Prater Hauptallee, a wide avenue through the park.
The course is traffic-free, AIMS-certified, and pancake-flat.
In 2012, each Eisbärlauf event had around 650 to 700 participants.
