Medea (Italy), Sunday 20 January 2013
The Maratonina delle Due Province gives runners the opportunity to run a promising half marathon (or 30k) time in the winter.
Starting and finishing in the village of Medea, which is situated between the cities of Udine and Trieste in the north-east of Italy, the route runs through two provinces — Gorizia and Udine.
Runners can expect the roads to be free of snow. The Adriatic coast is less than 30 kilometres away and the winter temperatures in the region are moderate.
Most of the half marathon route is flat out and back through farmland and villages.
Participants in the 30k race run the half marathon plus a 9k loop which includes approximately three kilometres on dirt roads.
