Held annually on New Year's Eve in the city of Innsbruck in Austria's state of Tyrol, this Silvesterlauf attracts an international field of about 800 runners.
Starting at 5pm on Marktplatz on the edge of Innsbruck's Old Town, participants run 5.6km (two laps of a 2.8km course) through the city centre and along the River Inn.
Nordic walkers finish after one lap (2.8km). Children run a 1.4km loop.
In 2012, the fastest finishers were Lukas Hollaus (17:12) and Julia Kick (20:23).
