14th Saint Anthony Marathon 2013 — Padua
Padua (Italy), Sunday 21 April 2013
The Maratona Sant Antonio in northern Italy offers a half and a full marathon. Both races are flat and fast, AIMS-certified and traffic-free point-to-point courses.
The finish line is on one of Europe's largest town squares — the magnificent Prato della Valle in the historic centre of Padua (Italian: Padova), a city of over 200,000 people, situated on the Venetian Plain, approximately 40km from Venice.
Starting in the village of Campodarsego (12km north of Padua), the marathon consists of a 30km rural loop and a 12km run to Padua.
The half marathon begins in the village of Camposampiero (21km north of Padua).
Participants run along the route which the preacher Antonio di Padova took on his last trip in the year 1231 when he died on his way to Padua, aged 36.
Last year, about 3500 athletes took part in the event. The marathon winners were Robert Kwanbai of Kenya (2:09:14) and Marily Dos Santos of Brazil (2:31:55). The time limit to finish the marathon is a generous seven hours.
The start of the marathon is at the church in Campodarsego.
