Pardubický vinařský půlmaraton 2013

Pardubice, situated about 100 kilometres east of Prague, may be best known for its long history of steeplechase horse races but among runners the city has also gained a good reputation for hosting the annual Pardubice Wine Half Marathon — one of the Czech Republic's major road running races.

Almost 1,300 athletes completed the half marathon last year, and about 100 took part in the 7k run. The event also offers inline skating and handcycling races.

Starting just outside Pardubice's Old Town, participants in the half marathon run three laps through the city centre and residential areas. The course is mostly flat and fast.

At the end of the race, competitors run on cobbles through the 16th-century "Green Gate" (Zelená brána) to the finish line on the magnificent Pernštejn Square in the Old Town.
