7th "Brenta Half Marathon" 2012
Bassano del Grappa (Italy), Sunday 2 September 2012
The Mezza Maratona del Brenta features a gently undulating but fast half marathon course around the photogenic town of Bassano del Grappa, which sits on the River Brenta at the foot of the Alps in Italy's Veneto region.
Last year, over 600 runners took part in the race. The top finishers were Hamed Nasef (1:05:59) and Roberta Lazzarotto (1:26:39).
Starting and finishing in Bassano's historic centre, the route takes runners through agricultural land and small towns (for instance through Marostica with its impressive town walls).
For most runners, however, the most memorable highlight may be running across the Ponte Vecchio, a beautiful wooden bridge designed by the architect Palladio in the sixteenth century.
Participants will run across the "Ponte Vecchio" (or "Ponte degli Alpini") to the finish in Bassano del Grappa.
