Görlitz-Zgorzelec (Germany-Poland), Friday 2 November 2012
Like the Europamarathon in June, the Fackellauf ("Torch Run") in November takes runners through both parts of the Europastadt Görlitz-Zgorzelec, situated on the border between Germany and Poland.
Participants run either 4km (one loop) or 8km (two loops).
The route follows both banks of the River Neisse which divides the city in two — Görlitz in Germany and Zgorzelec in Poland.
Competitors run across two torch-lit bridges. Start is at 6.30pm (after nightfall) at the Altstadtbrücke foot bridge (pictured).
Over 200 runners from Germany and Poland took part in the Fackellauf last year.
