7. Mezza Maratona del Lago di Caldaro 2012
Kalterer See/Lago di Caldaro (Italy), Sunday 25 March 2012
The half marathon at Lake Caldaro near Bolzano is one of the major road running events in South Tyrol, Italy's northernmost, largely German-speaking province.
In 2011, over 500 runners took part in the half marathon which consists of two laps around the lake, and about 250 completed the one-lap "Panoramalauf" (10.55km).
The route through vineyards and apple orchards is mildly undulating.
In 2011, the half marathon winners were South Tyrolean athletes Rudi Brunner (1:11:07) and Edeltraud Thaler (1:24:56).
Remember that the night before the event the clocks jump one hour forward due to the start of 'European Summer Time', so don't be late!
