20th 'Turopolje Run' 2012
The Turopoljska trka in Croatia takes place in the town of Velika Gorica, which is home to the Zagreb International Airport.
Velika Gorica is situated around 16 kilometres south of Zagreb's city centre. With about 60,000 residents, it's the biggest town in the very flat Turopolje region.
The event offers a half marathon, a 5K run and children's races. Participants in the half marathon run three laps.
There's not much to see along the course, and you may have to run alongside traffic for part of the way. Nevertheless, the Turopoljska trka is an important event in the Croatian race calendar, and the route is flat and fast.
Last year, around 200 runners completed the half marathon. The top finishers were Ethiopia's Ashenafi Erkolo (1:08:18) and Dubravka Vešligaj of Croatia (1:28:05).
