A new trail running event will debut in March 2012 in the north-east of Italy.
The 13-kilometre Kokoš Trail race will be held in the wilderness of the Karst Plateau which rises above the Adriatic port of Trieste.
Participants will run a hilly and very scenic loop through grass- and woodland on the edge of the spectacular Val Rosandra gorge.
Start and finish will be near the village of Basovizza, which is at 377 metres above sea level. The highest point on the course will be on Monte Cocusso (Slovene: Kokoš), a wooded hill on the border with Slovenia (672m).
