Nuremberg (Germany), Monday 31 December 2012
On New Year's Eve it may be too cold for a pedal boat ride on the Wöhrder See in the city of Nuremberg but amid a steaming crowd of approximately 1000 runners it will surely be warm enough for a run around the lake.
The Silvesterlauf in Nuremberg (German: Nürnberg) — a city of half a million people in the Franconia region in northern Bavaria — offers a 10k race and a 5k run.
The 10k is two laps around the lake.
Start and finish are on "Wöhrder Wiese", a vast urban open space just east of the city centre. The route is on asphalt footpaths through parkland along the shore.
