Forni di Sopra (Italy), Sunday 26 August 2012
The Skyrace Dolomiti Friulane features a spectacular 20km trail running route through the breathtaking scenery of the Friulian Dolomites in north-eastern Italy.
The start and the finish are in the ski and holiday resort of Forni di Sopra (880m).
The route is very demanding. Overall, it includes 1700 metres of ascent and 1700 metres of descent, partly over very steep and rough terrain.
Approximately four kilometres are on asphalt roads.
The highest point on the course is on the "Forcella dell'inferno", at 2175 metres above sea level.
Fortunately, participants can take their time and enjoy the beautiful views as the time limit to finish the race is seven hours.
In 2011, over 500 runners and hikers took part in the skyrace. The fastest finishers were Matteo Piller Hofer (2:02:45) and Lorella Baron (2.39:00).
