The 14-kilometre Tatai Minimarathon in Hungary attracts around 800 runners to the small lakeside town of Tata, situated approximately 70km from Budapest, on the railway line to Vienna.

Over the years, a large number of Hungary's best distance runners have taken part in the race. In 2011, the top finishers were Lajos Berecz and Judit Nagy Földingné (pictured), winner of many international marathons.

The route is very scenic as it runs through Tata's old town, through the "English Park", past the fourteenth-century lakeside castle, and around the 2.5-kilometre-long "Old Lake".

Runners may experience high temperatures during the race as the start is at 4pm on a Saturday in early August.
