Around 1200 runners took part in last year's Maratonina Riviera dei Dogi, which features a flat, fast and attractive half marathon route along the Riviera del Brenta in the Province of Venice in northern Italy.

Competitors run a loop along both banks of the Brenta Canal, which connects the cities of Padua and Venice. The canal is home to approximately 100 villas, built by the Venetian aristocracy between the sixteenth and the eighteenth century.

In 2012, the start and finish will be in the town of Dolo.

Last year, the event was staged in the town of Mira. The top finishers were Simone Gobbo (1:08:35) and Sonia Lorenzi (1:22:55).
