5th "Lighthouse Run" 2012
Podersdorf am See (Austria), Easter Monday 9 April 2012
The Leuchtturmlauf gives runners the opportunity to spend Easter Monday running on the eastern shore of the Neusiedler See, Austria's largest lake.
Participants choose to run either 10km (three laps), 6.6km (two laps), or 3.3km (one lap). Children run 1km.
The route is mostly on dirt trails through parkland in Podersdorf am See, the most popular resort in the region. Each lap includes a detour to the Leuchtturm (lighthouse), which stands at the end of a 200-metre-long pier.
In 2011, the event had about 280 participants. A fair number of them came from nearby Hungary and from Vienna. The fastest 10K Leuchtturmläufer were Wolfgang Wallner of Austria (33:19) and Zsanett Móczó of Hungary (41:49).
