The Fitlauf invites runners and nordic walkers to spend Austria's National Day (Nationalfeiertag) in the small town of Bruck an der Mur which sits in the narrow Mur River Valley in the state of Styria, approximately 50km north of the city of Graz.

The main race is a challenging and varied 8.9-kilometre loop.

Starting and finishing on the athletics track on the Murinsel, an island in the Mur, participants run (or walk) eastwards along the river before they turn south into the lovely Weitental, a wooded valley popular for its many springs and some over 200-year-old trees.

Last year, the event had about 150 participants of all ages. The fastest finishers were Josef Gugl (33:48) and Isabella Pycha (39:35).

The event does not charge any entry fees.
