Staged on the northern edge of Austria's capital city Vienna, the Kahlenberglauf is a scenic and not too demanding hill running race. The course contains approximately 400 metres of climbing and 90 metres of descent, spread over 8.6 kilometres.

Start is in the village of Kahlenbergerdorf, situated on the River Danube, about 8 kilometres to the north of Vienna's city centre. Participants run on roads and trails up the slopes of the wooded Wienerwald hills.

The finish is at the transmission tower on Kahlenberg (484m), a popular destination for the city folk as it offers fine views of the Danube and of the city in the distance.

In 2010, the winners were Switzerland's top mountain runner David Schneider (34:02) and Teresa Weisz from Vienna (43:49).
