4th "St Martin's Half Marathon" 2011

The Maratonina di San Martino in northern Italy features a flat and fast, certified and traffic-free half marathon course around the small town of Paese.

Paese is located just about seven kilometres from the beautiful city of Treviso, and less than 40 kilometres from Venice.

Start is at a the "BHR Treviso Hotel" near Treviso's airport. The finish is in Paese, about 2.5 kilometres from the start. Competitors run one loop through fields and villages on the vast Venetian Plain. Most of the route is on paved roads.

Over 600 runners took part in last year's race. The winners were Taoufique El Barhoumi of Morocco (1:04:34) and Claudette Mukasakindi of Rwanda (1:15:44).

The event is held a few days before St Martin's Day (November 11), which is traditionally the first day when the new wine is tasted.

Entries: online or by post, fax or e-mail; payment by credit card or bank transfer; entries close 3 Nov 2011; entrants may have to provide a medical certificate at registration and pay an additional 5 euros if they are not members of the Italian Athletic Federation FIDAL

Entry fees: 15 euros for men, 13 euros for women (until 30 Oct 2011), 25 euros (until 3 Nov 2011)

Race centre: at the start (Saturday 5 Nov 9.00-12.30 and 15.00-18.00, on the day 7.30-8.45)

You get: goody bag and T-shirt (to the first 1000 entries), timing chip rental, transport of personal clothing from start to finish, shuttle bus service (before and after the race), pasta party after the race, massage
