2nd "Jarun Run" 2011
Zagreb (Croatia), Saturday 28 May 2011
Participants in the Jarunska trka run a 6,350m-long loop around Lake Jarun in Croatia's capital Zagreb. The route follows the road that encircles the lake.
There are no entry fees but all runners get a T-shirt and a meal after the race. A generous prize fund ensures a strong field of competitors from Croatia and neighbouring countries. In 2010, the winners were Tamás Kovács of Hungary and Lucia Kimani of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Lake Jarun is located in the south-western part of Zagreb, close to the River Sava. The lake was created in its present form in 1987 for the World University Games (Universiade). It features a rowing regatta course, shingle beaches, cafés and bars.
