The Minimaraton takes runners through the Szigetköz, a 50-kilometre-long wetland area in Hungary's north-western corner, close to the borders with Austria and Slovakia.

Bounded by two rivers (the Danube and the Moson-Danube), the area is beloved by canoeists, fishermen, birdwatchers, horse riders and cyclists.

The event offers a 4K and a 16K run. Start and finish are in the town of Mosonmagyaróvár, home to 32,000 people, a thermal spa, a pleasant old town and a large castle.

In 2010, the 16K winners were Hungary's elite triathlete József Major (53:15) and former world-class marathoner Judit Nagy (59:37).
