Cavallino-Treporti - Jesolo (Italy), Saturday 21 May 2011
This road running race in the province of Venice fills the gap that was left by the Nightmarathon which took place until 2009 and which attracted over 2000 runners each year.
The Moonlight Half Marathon connects two beach resorts, both located on a narrow strip of land between the Venetian Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea.
The start is at Punta Sabbioni in Cavallino-Treporti, from where there are ferries and speedboats to Venice. The finish is in Lido di Jesolo, a purpose-built beach resort which has around 4.5 million visitors per year. The route is completely flat and closed to traffic.
