The start is in the village of Schenna (Scena).
The Berglauf 'Meran 2000' is a top mountain running race in Italy's alpine province of South Tyrol, where most people speak German as a first language.
The route is 10 kilometres long and includes an elevation gain of 1300 metres. The first three kilometres are on asphalt. Then, competitors run on dirt roads, mountain trails and ski slopes.
The start is in the village of Schenna (Italian: Scena), located on the edge of Meran (Merano), a very pretty spa town beloved for its mild climate and Mediterranean vegetation.
The finish line is at an elevation of 1886 metres in the ski area of 'Meran 2000'.
In 2010, the winners were Andrzej Długosz of Poland (59:40) and Italy's Elena Casaro (1:17:58).
