The route runs through the Lipica Stud.

Slovenia's first major running event of the year takes place on the Karst limestone plateau in the south of the country, just a few kilometres from the border with Italy and the port city of Trieste.

The half marathon is a single loop which crosses the border to Italy and then runs back to Slovenia. Approximately 9 kilometres of the race are run on Italian soil.

Starting and finishing in the small town of Sežana (Italian: Sesana), participants run through the stud farm of Lipica (the origin of the Lipizzaner horses) and through several small Karst villages.

The route is attractive but rarely flat. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is around 90 metres.

The event includes an 8.45k run and a race walking competition on the track.

In 2010, around 2200 runners took part in the event. The top half marathon finishers were Tone Kosmač (1:06:20) and Daneja Grandovec (1:23:02).
