Over 600 runners took part in last year's Keszthelyi Kilométerek, which is staged in the appealing small town of Keszthely at the western end of Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake.
The event offers a half marathon (two laps), a marathon (four laps), and a marathon relay.
The start is on Keszthely's main square, a 10min-walk from the finish on the lake.
The race is on roads, footpaths and cycleways. Participants run through the pedestrianized town centre, through parks and residential areas, and along the lakeside promenade. The route is mildly undulating and AIMS-certified, but it's not really an easy course to set a personal record.
In 2010, the marathon winners were Gábor Szabó (2:36:18) and Veronika Görög (3:21:29). Zsolt Zsódér (1:12:42) and Anikó Kálovics (1:21:44) celebrated victory in the half marathon.
