5th Kamnje Cross 2011
Kamnje (Slovenia), Sunday 23 January 2011
This is the second of four small cross-country running events in Slovenia's Primorska region, which borders Italy and the Mediterranean Sea.
The event takes place in the village of Kamnje, situated on the sunny slopes of the fruit- and wine-growing Vipava Valley, around 20 kilometres from the Italian town of Gorizia.
In winter, the area is often very windy but usually there's no snow, and as there are so many grassy fields and trails it's perfect for cross-country running.
Participants run several undulating loops around the vineyards and fields of Kamnje. The distance depends on their age category:
- 300m-2km: children
- 4km: juniors (born 1992-1995)
- 6km: men (born 1965 and older); women (born 1991 and older)
- 8km: men (born 1966-1991)
