7th ‘Dražgoše Mountain Race’ 2011

Around 100 runners take part annually in the uphill running race 'Tek na Dražgoško goro', which is staged in a beautiful corner of Slovenia's mountainous Gorenjska region.
The 7.5-kilometre route features almost 700 metres of elevation gain. Competitors run mostly on trails through forests and pastures. In the middle section of the race, in the village of Dražgoše, participants run approximately one kilometre on paved roads.
The start is in the village of Rudno, situated in a lovely green valley, about two kilometres north of the old ironworking town of Železniki, and 40 kilometres north-west of Slovenia's capital Ljubljana.
The finish line is on Dražgoška gora (Mount Dražgoše, 1170m) on the densely wooded Jelovica Plateau. From the finish, there are marvellous views of Slovenia's alpine foothills.
At the finish, runners get some refreshments and their personal clothing before they walk back to Dražgoše village where lunch and the award ceremony take place.
In 2010, the winners were Bojan Ambrožič (39:05) and Valerija Mrak (47:15).
