11th Parndorf Road Race 2010
Parndorf (Austria), Saturday 19 June 2010
Parndorf is a village in the low-lying Burgenland province in the far east of Austria, located just about 10 kilometres from the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl.
Day-tripping shopaholics and bargain hunters from Vienna, Hungary and Slovakia know it as the home of the huge "Designer Outlet Parndorf" with 150 shops.
Runners like to go there for the fast 10k road race, held in June on a certified 3.3km course through the village. The race consists of three laps.
In 2009, Ashenafi Erkolo of Ethiopia, who is based in Hungary, won the race in a time of 31:34, missing the course record by 15 seconds. Slovakia's Dana Janeckova led the women home in 37:26. She also holds the course record (36:20).
