The Maratonina Città di Udine is one of the top half marathon races in the runinternational Race Guide. Around 1500 runners, among them once again a fair number of elite athletes, took part in the race last year.

Although the route is not completely flat, and although the last part of the race is run on cobbles, many runners have achieved excellent results in Udine. The course records are held by Kenya's Benson Barus (59:41) and Margaret Okayo (1:07:23).

The race begins and ends in the beautiful historic centre of Udine, a city of about 100,000 people, situated in the Friuli area in the north-east of Italy.

The route consists of a 13.5km loop through the densely populated area north of Udine, followed by a 7.5km loop around (and through) Udine's city centre.

In addition to the half marathon, the event offers a 7.15km non-competitive run, the "STRAUdine".
